The Cathedral is the seat of the Bishop of Ely and the mother church of over 300 parishes that make up the Diocese of Ely. It is the third longest medieval cathedral in England, at 161m and the 14th century Octagon tower and its unique wooden lantern is considered one of the wonders of the medieval world.
