St Botolph is the home church of the poet John Clare, and he is buried in the churchyard.
It is a friendly church.
Architecturally from many different periods. The oddly-shaped spire makes it identifiable for many miles across what was former marsh and fen-edge. There are two immense, crudely-cut “squints” allowing a view of the high altar from the side aisles.
Thanks to the HCT and many other generous givers, we have a modern servery and accessible toilet.
Yes, St Botolph is a member of CHCT.
