Ride and Stride Church List

The beautiful medieval church of St John the Baptist in Parson Drove dates back around 900 years although it is believed the site was used for worship even further back in time. Sitting in Church End this was the original church of Parson Drove but as the village grew up further down the road The Emmanuel Church was built in Victorian times. St Johns was active until the mid 1970s when it was made redundant and passed to the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. Over the years it was used occasionally but has in effect been out of use for about 50 years. But all that has changed with the new Friends of St John, Parson Drove, a charity set up to help the CCT maintain the church and to breath some life back into this amazing building. The church is now regularly open for visitors and is now a new thriving hub for the community hosting a wide variety of events and fund raising activities. Everyone is welcome to come and see what we are doing to ensure the future of this delightful building.
